No. 25 Men's Soccer Earns Shutout Win Over Culver-Stockton
Marshall, Mo., (Sept. 20, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's soccer teams hosted Culver-Stockton (Mo.) in a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium. The No. 6 women's team won, 4-1, and the No. 25 men's team earned a 3-0 victory.
In the men's game, Senior Forward Taiga Matsumoto (Nara, Japan) scored the game-winning goal, while Senior Forward Shiko Kiyomiya (Tokyo, Japan) and Sophomore Midfielder Alexander Ulmen (Lund, Sweden) each had one goal apiece. Junior Forward Luis Mencos (Madrid, Spain) had two assists and Sophomore Midfielder Bartomeu Trias (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) added one assist. Senior Goalkeeper Vicente Benitez Delgado (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) made one save securing his first shutout of the season. Missouri Valley held a 19-4 advantage in shots and finished with five corner kicks.
The win moves Missouri Valley to 2-3-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the Heart. Culver-Stockton drops to 1-5-3 on the season and 0-4-1 in the conference.
Up next, the Viking soccer teams host William Woods (Mo.) in a Heart doubleheader, Tuesday evening inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium. Women's game starts at 5 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.
