No. 5 Men's Volleyball Drops Road Contest to No. 3 Park

Parkville, Mo., (March 14, 2026)- The No. 5 Missouri Valley College men's volleyball team traveled to Parkville, Mo., to play a Heart of America Athletic Conference match with No. 3 Park (Mo.), Saturday afternoon. The Vikings went to four games and fell by scores of 22-25, 21-25, 25-16, 22-25.

The first game started with both teams trading points through a 10-10 score, where Senior Opposite Luca Hasse (Paderborn, Germany) had two kills, and also teamed up with Sophomore Middle Blocker Martin Tseyera (Salta, Argentina) on a block.  Junior Outside Hitter Pierro Porras (Lima, Peru) added two kills, and Freshman Outside Hitter Loan Fargier (France) landed a kill.  Park moved in front, taking five of the next seven points to hold a 15-12 advantage.  Missouri Valley used two PU errors, and a kill each from Fargier, Tseyera, and Junior Middle Blocker Joao Tavares (Parana, Brazil) to close the gap down to 18-17.  Teams traded points through the rest of the game, as Fargier had two kills, and teamed up with Tseyera on a block, but Park eventually closed out a 25-22 win to take the opening game. 

Missouri Valley went out in front in the second game, as Fargier, Tseyera and Hasse added a kill apiece, and Tavares teamed up with Hasse and Freshman Setter Leonardo Poiatti (Sao Paulo, Brazil) on two blocks to hold a 6-4 lead.  Teams traded points through the next stretch of play, and Park eventually moved on top, 10-9.  The Vikings answered, winning the next three points, using two PU errors and a kill from Hasse to reclaim the lead, 12-10.  However, the Pirates responded, taking nine of the next twelve points to pull ahead, 19-15.  Missouri Valley used three errors from Park, and a kill from Fargier to cut into its deficit, 22-19.  Hasses landed two more kills before Park finished out a 25-21 win. 

Needing a win in the third game to extend the match, both teams exchanged points through a 3-3 score.  Missouri Valley then took control of the game, winning six-straight points, featuring two kills and an ace from Hasse, along with a block from Freshman Setter Leonardo Poiatti (Sao Paulo, Brazil) and Tavares.  The Vikings continued to pull away from there, taking eight of the next ten points, which included a two kills from Fargier, who also teamed up with Tavares on a block, a solo block from Poiatti, who then teamed up with Tseyera on another block, and a kill from Hasse to put the advantage at double-digits, 16-6.  The two teams traded points through the next several points, and the Pirates were unable to close the gap.  The next three kills for the Vikings came from Hasse in the final stretch of play, and a final error from Park finished off a 25-16 win for Missouri Valley, and sent the match into a fourth game.

The two teams played close at the start of the fourth game, featuring four PU errors and two kills from Hasse, to give Missouri Valley a 6-4 advantage.  The Pirates countered by taking seven of the next ten points to move in front, 11-9.  The Vikings deficit grew out to 16-12, where Fargier landed a kill and teamed up with Tseyera.  Park continued to stay in front through the rest of the game, and Missouri Valley cut its deficit down to 23-17, as Tavares put down a solo block, and Hasse added a kill.  MVC tried to climb late in the game, winning three-straight points with a kill from Fargier and a block from Hasse and Tseyera, but a final error from the Vikings ended the match, 25-22.

Hasse led with 17 kills, an ace, and four digs.  Fargier followed with 11 kills and six digs, while, both Tseyera and Tavares had four kills each.  Poiatti finished with 33 assists, one solo block, and four digs.  Missouri Valley totaled 12 blocks in the match.

Missouri Valley drops to 14-2 overall and 8-2 in the conference, while Park improves to 21-0 on the season and 13-0 in the Heart.

Up next, the Viking men's volleyball team will host Culver-Stockton (Mo.) in a Heart of America Conference contest, Tuesday at 7 p.m., inside the Burns Athletic Complex.
