No. 10 Women’s Wrestling Drops Dual to No. 5 William Penn

Marshall, Mo., (Feb. 17, 2026)- The No. 10 Missouri Valley College women's wrestling hosted a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual with No. 5 William Penn, Tuesday evening. The Vikings won four matchups, but fell, 26-17.

Women's Results:

103 pounds: Freshman Janessa Avila (St. Clair, Mo.) lost to Lillian Zapata in a 10-0 technical fall.  William Penn leads, 4-0.

110 pounds: William Penn left the weight class open. Junior Raquel Garcia (Wilmington, Calif.) won by forfeit.  Missouri Valley leads, 5-4.

117 pounds: No. 3 Sophomore Zao Estrada (Bluffton, S.C.) lost to Christianah Ogunsanya in an 11-0 technical fall.  William Penn leads, 8-5.

124 pounds: No. 14 Sophomore Isla Baeza (Orem, Utah) lost to No. 12 Tatiana Paragas in a 10-0 technical fall.  William Penn leads, 12-5.

131 pounds: Junior Chase Kiel (Kansas City, Mo.) lost to No. 5 Kendall Bostelman in a 12-0 technical fall.  William Penn leads, 16-5.

138 pounds: Sophomore Toby Goertz (Wildwood, Mo.) lost to No. 2 Esther Kolawole in a 12-0 technical fall.  William Penn leads, 20-5.

145 pounds: No. 5 Sarina Bertram (Platte City, Mo.) defeated No. 18 Naida Abdijanovic in a 9-2 decision.  William Penn leads, 21-8.

160 pounds: Senior Brooke-Lynn Rush (St. Joseph, Mo.) defeated Kylee Eastwood in a 10-0 technical fall.  William Penn leads, 21-12.

180 pounds: No. 15 Junior Maria Slaughter (Wentzville, Mo.) lost to No. 9 Piper Fowler in a first period (1:41) pin.  William Penn leads, 26-12.

207 pounds: William Penn left the weight class open.  Junior Hollie Hedgpeth (Cameron, Mo.) won by forfeit. 

William Penn defeated Missouri Valley, 26-17.  The Vikings drop to 6-5 on the season in duals.

Up next, the women's wrestling team will compete at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, Feb. 28 in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
