No. 10 Women's Wrestling Tops No. 20 Baker in Road Dual

Baldwin City, Kan., (Feb. 4, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College women's wrestling traveled to Baldwin City, Kan., for a Heart of America Athletic Conference dual against No. 20 Baker University, Wednesday evening.  The Vikings won nine of the ten weight classes to earn a 38-5 victory. 

Results:

103 pounds: Baker left the weight class open.  Freshman Janessa Avila (St. Clair, Mo.) won by forfeit.  Missouri Valley leads, 5-0.

110 pounds: Baker left the weight class open.  Junior Raquel Garcia (Wilmington, Calif.) won by forfeit.  Missouri Valley leads, 10-0.

117 pounds: No. 10 Sophomore Zao Estrada (Bluffton, S.C.) defeated Sophia Castillo in a 10-0 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 14-0. 

124 pounds: Sophomore Jaylenn Hudlemeyer (Excelsior Springs, Mo.) lost to Kylee Slyter in a second period (3:42) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 14-5.

131 pounds: Freshman Jerzie Estrada (Bluffton, S.C.) defeated No. 18 Aileya Sath in a 10-0 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 18-5.

138 pounds: No. 4 Junior Serenity De La Garza (McAllen, Texas) defeated Mariam Shariq in a 10-0 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 22-5.

145 pounds: Senior Brooke-Lynn Rush (St. Joseph, Mo.) defeated No. 20 McKenna Haltom in a 10-0 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 26-5.

160 pounds: Junior Maria Slaughter (Wentzville, Mo.) defeated Morgan Tadlock in a 10-0 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 30-5.

180 pounds: No. 7 Senior Autumn Perez (Dodge City, Kan.) defeated Johanna Carrasco in a 6-0 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 33-5.

207 pounds: Junior Hollie Hedgpeth (Cameron, Mo.) defeated Kara Pope in a first period (1:59) pin.

Missouri Valley defeated Baker, 38-5.

 

VR Results:

138 pounds: Junior Chase Kiel (Kansas City, Mo.) lost to Giada Cucchiara in a second period (4:54) pin.

138 pounds: Senior Mystique Anderson (Kansas City, Mo.) defeated Maddie O`Brien in a first period (0:32) pin. She also lost to Leighanna Patz in a first period (1:53) pin.

145 pounds: Freshman Peyton Dunn (Londell, Mo.) defeated Reagan Wonnell in a first period (2:00) pin.

160 pounds: Freshman Mya Willis (Wildwood, Mo.) defeated Cecilia Lynch in a first period (1:24) pin.

 

The Vikings move to 5-4 on the season in duals.

Up next, the women's wrestling team competes at the Grand View (Iowa) Open in Des Moines, Iowa, Saturday.
