No. 10 Women's Wrestling Competes at the Warrior Open
Fort Wayne, Ind., (Jan. 25, 2025)- The No. 10 Missouri Valley College women's wrestling team competed at the Warrior (Ind.) Open, Saturday. The Vikings competed against programs from multiple collegiate divisions at the event. The team was led by Freshman Aniya Herbin who finished third at 207 pounds, No. 2 Senior Kelani Corbett who placed fourth at 180 pounds and No. 6 Senior Ashley Whetzal who finished fifth at 131 pounds.
Maximus Division:
Freshman Aniya Herbin (Tampa, Fla.)-207lbs:
First Round: Received a bye.
Quarterfinal: Defeated Destiny Marquez of University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) in a 4-1 decision.
Semifinal: Lost to No. 6 Hannah Jackson of Ottawa (Kan.) in a 2-2 decision.
Consolation Semifinal: Defeated No. 9 Hayeni Costa of Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) in a 9-6 decision.
Third Place Match: Defeated No. 11 Kena Leonard of Ottawa (Kan.) in a 3-0 decision.
Herbin placed third at 207 pounds.
