No. 6 Seed Women's Soccer Earns Shutout Win Over Lindsey Wilson in National Third Round
Pensacola, Fla., (Dec. 2, 2025)- The No. 6 seed Missouri Valley College women's soccer team continued play in the 2025 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship with a third round game against Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) Tuesday night in Pensacola, Fla. The Vikings scored two goals in the first half, and secured a shutout victory by a final score of 3-0.
The game opened with Lindsey Wilson producing the first two shots in the opening four minutes of the game, but could not put either of the attempts on goal. Missouri Valley eventually worked a free kick inside the Blue Raiders half of the field, which led to a loose-ball situation in the Lindsey Wilson box. The ball fell to Senior Forward Marlene Flores (Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia) who tapped her shot from close range into goal to put the Vikings in front, 1-0, with just over eight minutes off the clock. Missouri Valley held the better of possession over the next stretch of play, and Flores tested the Lindsey Wilson keeper again, near the 15-minute mark, as the shot was saved. Senior Defender Daijah White (Tucson, Ariz.) came up with another shot on goal nearly six minutes later, but the Blue Raiders keeper came up with another save. Senior Goalkeeper Marina Barbara Bujalancec (Cornella Llobregat, Spain) was called on for her first save, close to the 32-minute mark. Lindsey Wilson got off a shot on goal, less than five minutes later, as Barbara Bujalance made another save. The Vikings earned a foul and sent a free kick into the Blue Raider box late in the half. A Lindsey Wilson defender tried to clear the ball close to goal, but the attempt deflected off Senior Forward Viktoria Einsbor (Havdrup, Denmark) and went into the net to extend the MVC advantage to 2-0, with five minutes to play before the break. Senior Defender Marta Carrasco Mesa (Sevilla, Spain) tried to add another goal in the closing minutes, but the shot was saved, and Missouri Valley held a two-goal lead at halftime.
The two teams traded possession at the start of the second half, as a Carrasco Mesa shot was saved a little more than 10-minutes into play, while Barbara Bujalance made a save just over two minutes later. The Vikings built up pressure near the Blue Raiders box, and eventually intercepted a pass to set up another quality chance. Senior Midfielder Judit Ferre (Barcelona, Spain) sent a shot from just outside the box past the keeper and into goal to give Missouri Valley a 3-0 lead with 16-minutes played in the second half. Lindsey Wilson struggled to create quality chances through the rest of play, as Barbara Bujalance needed to make only one more save in the contest, near the 78-minute mark. The Vikings closed out the game, and earned a 3-0 victory to advance in the National tournament.
Flores has seven goals, 21 points and two game-winning goals on the season. Einsbor added her first goal, and Ferre now has 13 goals and a team-high 33 points on the season. Barbara Bujalance made four saves to secure the team's tenth shutout on the season, and the program's first-ever shutout victory in the National tournament. The team finished with 16 shots and four corner kicks.
Missouri Valley improves to 18-0-4 on the season. Lindsey Wilson has its season end with a 10-6-2 record.
