Women's Lacrosse Falls at Home to No. 8 Missouri Baptist

Marshall, Mo., (March 19, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's lacrosse teams hosted Missouri Baptist in a Heart of America Athletic Conference doubleheader Wednesday evening inside Volney C. Ashford Stadium.  The women's team fell to the No. 8 Spartans.

 

In the women's game, the pair of Senior Goalkeeper Melissa Sandoval (Weiser, Idaho) and Freshman Goalkeeper Audrey Connolly (Houston, Texas) combined to make seven saves in the first quarter.  Senior Attack Allexis Lark (Alma, Mo.) scored the opening goal of the second quarter, off an assist from Freshman Midfielder Ava Graham (Pearland, Texas), to put Missouri Valley on the scoreboard, and cut the deficit down to 4-1.  The Spartans built up their lead over the rest of the second quarter, and went into halftime in front, 9-1.  Sandoval made a pair of saves early in the third quarter, and Freshman Midfielder Ashley Halter (Alcoa, Tenn.) scored just past the 10-minute mark to bring the gap down to 10-2.  Sophomore Attack Rose Symanski (Southampton, England)added a late goal in the fourth quarter, as Graham added another assist, but Missouri Valley fell by a final score of 17-3.

 

Szymasnski, Lark and Halter each scored one goal, while Graham added two assists.  Sandoval made a game-high 10 saves, and Connolly added four saves.  The Vikings forced six turnovers in the contest, and came up with nine ground balls.

 

Missouri Valley drops to 1-6 overall and 0-3 in the Heart.  Missouri Baptist improves to 7-3 on the season and 2-0 in the conference.

 

Up next, the Viking lacrosse teams go to Atchison, Kan., for a Heart doubleheader with Benedictine (Kan.), Saturday afternoon.  Women's game at 1 p.m., followed by the men's game at 4 p.m.
