Women's Lacrosse Suffers Road Loss at St. Ambrose
Davenport, Iowa, (March 16, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College women's lacrosse team traveled to Davenport, Iowa, for a Saturday afternoon Heart of America Athletic Conference with St. Ambrose (Iowa).
Missouri Valley scored two goals in the first quarter of play, both in the final minutes. The first goal came from Freshman Midfielder Hailey Davis (Maryville, Tenn.), near the two-minute mark, and was quickly followed after the ensuing draw control by a goal from Freshman Attack Rose Symanski (Southampton, England). Davis added one more goal for the Vikings midway through the second quarter, then tacked on two more goals in the third quarter of play. Another three goals were scored by Davis in the fourth quarter, but Missouri Valley fell by a final score of 23-8.
Davis led with seven goals, and added one assist. Szymanski added one goal. Junior Goalkeeper Melissa Sandoval (Weiser, Idaho) made seven saves in goal, and came up with three ground balls. Missouri Valley totaled 15 ground balls in the game, and forced St. Ambrose into 15 turnovers.
Missouri Valley drops to 1-4 overall and 0-1 in the Heart. St. Ambrose improves to 3-1 on the season and 1-0 in the conference.
Up next, the Viking women's lacrosse team goes to Dubuque, Iowa, for a Heart contest with Clarke (Iowa), March 23 at 1 p.m.
