Women's Golf Produces Top Five Finisher at Heart Championship
Overland Park, Kan., (April 22, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College women's golf team played at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship, Monday and Tuesday at The Nicklaus Golf Club at Lionsgate in Overland Park, Kan. The Vikings finished sixth overall with one individual in the top five.
Leading the team was Junior Hanna Rieker (Munich, Germany) who finished fifth in the overall standings with a three-round score of +27 (243). Rieker finished with low-rounds of +8 (80) in the first and third rounds, and came in 14 strokes back of first place. Next was Freshman Sydney Righter (Camdenton, Mo.) at No. 29 overall with a final score of +65 (281), and Junior Madison Mills (Willard, Mo.) followed at No. 31 with a score of +82 (298). The final team scorer was Freshman Victoria Menard Varela (Coruna, Spain) at No. 33 with a +94 (310) and Freshman Shelby Welling (Jefferson City, Mo.) came in at No. 41 with a final score of +108 (324).
Rieker was also named to the 2025 Heart Women's Golf All-Conference Team, and becomes the program's first all-conference selection since 2022 (Blanca Norriega).
In the team standings, Missouri Valley placed sixth overall with a three-round score of +266 (1130). William Penn (Iowa) won the tournament with a final score of +116 (980) followed by Baker (Kan.) in second place with a +127 (991).
