Women's Golf Secures MVC Spring Invite Individual and Team Titles

Marshall, Mo., (April 8, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's golf teams hosted the MVC Spring Invite at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall, Mo.  Both teams captured first overall, producing individual champions.

 

Leading the men's team was Junior Chad Coburn (Bloemfontein, South Africa), who finished with a three-round score of -6 (210).  Coburn went under-par in two rounds, with a -2 (70) in the first round and a -5 (67) in the second round to win by five strokes.  Following in second place was Freshman Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe) with a -1 (215).  Storrer had one round under-par with a -3 (69) in the second round.  Freshman Mateo Cadario (Santa Cruz, Bolivia) was third with a +3 (219), which included a -1 (71) in the third round, and the team scorers was rounded out by Sophomore Sebastian Liffers (Heitersheim, Germany) at fifth place with a +5 (221).  Junior Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) added a +10 (226) to place at No. 13.

 

The Viking "B" team was led by Freshman Nolan Gordon (Salisbury, Mo.) in seventh place with a +6 (222), which included a -1 (71) in the third round.  Junior Dominic Hoskin (Witham, England) also came in at seventh with a +6 (222), finishing with a -1 (71) in the third round.  Sophomore Valentin Bosdari (Mendoza, Argentina) had a +7 (223) to finish ninth, and the team scorers were finished out by Sophomore Ryan Van Eyk (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) at No. 11 with a final score of +9 (225).  Freshman Gabriel Pereira Leite (Lisbon, Portugal) came in at No. 14 with a +12 (228). 

 

Leading the "C" team was Senior Cade Basson (George, South Africa) at +5 (221) to place fifth.  Basson had a -1 (71) in the second round.  Senior Jesus Perez (Sevilla, Spain) followed at No. 14 with a final score of +12 (228), and Sophomore Julian Ayape (Bayonne, France) placed at No. 17 with a +15 (231).  Freshman Tyler Adams (St. Charles, Mo.) finished out the team scorers at No. 24 with a +22 (238) and Senior Leonardo Borzaga (Trento, Italy) added a +38 (254) to place at No. 38.

 

Junior Jules Garret (Lyon, France) led the "D" team with a final score of +4 (220) to place fourth overall, which included a -1 (71) in the second round.  Freshman Tomas Ayape (Bayonne, France) followed at No. 16 with a +13 (229), while Freshman Guillermo Gil Llorens (Alcala de Henares, Spain) had a +28 (244) to come in at No. 31.  Freshman Troy Watson (Westland, Mich.) was the final team scorer, at +32 (248) to place No. 35 and Sophomore Jackson Tobias (Warrenton, Mo.) totaled a +114 (330) to finish at No. 45.  Playing as an individual was Freshman Jacob Salas (Hillsboro, Mo.), who placed at No. 33 with a +31 (247).

 

The men's "A" team placed first overall with a final score of -1 (863) to win by 25 strokes.  The "B" team was second with a +24 (888) and the "C" team was third with a +54 (918).  The Viking "D" team was sixth with a +77 (941).

 

The women's team was led by individual champion Junior Hanna Rieker (Munich, Germany), who totaled a +16 (232) in three rounds to win by 14 strokes.  Rieker posted the lowest round of any golfer in the third round with a +3 (75).  Freshman Sydney Righter (Camdenton, Mo.) and Freshman Victoria Menard Varela (Coruna, Spain) tied for seventh, both finishing at +52 (268) and Junior Madison Mills (Willard, Mo.) was the final team scorer, placing tenth with a +58 (274).

 

As a team, the Viking won the women's title with a final score of +178 (1042), topping second place Waldorf (Iowa) by 99 strokes. This is the first tournament title for the women's program since winning the MVC Spring Invitational in April of 2017.
