Softball Ends Season With Doubleheader at Park
Parkville, Mo., (April 25, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College softball team traveled to Parkville, Mo., for a Heart of America Athletic Conference Doubleheader to close the season against Park (Mo.), Saturday afternoon. The Vikings dropped game one, 4-3, and fell in the second game, 5-3.
The first game started with Missouri Valley going in front in the top of the first finning, as Senior Centerfielder Jesykah Foster (Garden City, Kan.) led off with a single, Freshman First Baseman Gabriella White (Pittsburg, Kan.) reached first on a Park error, and Sophomore Third Baseman Keira Carvalho (Vista, Calif.) brought home Foster on a sac-bunt. Sophomore Second Baseman Allison Loucas (Twin Lakes, Wisc.) followed with a grounder, allowing White to reach third, and then scored on a PU error to make it a 2-0 score. Junior Aaralynn Ranck (Marissa, Ill.) kept the Pirates scoreless in the first and second inning, inducing two fly-outs and striking out one batter. The Vikings put two runners on-base in the top of the third, as Carvalho walked, and Junior Catcher Camryn Dilla (West Des Moines, Iowa) doubled to left field, but the pair were left stranded. Park eventually moved ahead in the bottom half of the third, using five hits to produce four runs to hold a 4-2 lead.
After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, Missouri Valley added a run in the top of the fifth, as Foster walked and advanced to third on a fly-out from White, and Carvalho came up next with a sac-fly to bring home Foster to close the gap down to 4-3. Sophomore Pitcher Gabriella Branson (Petersburg, Ill.) worked around a pair of singles to keep the scoreboard close in the bottom half of the fifth. The two teams were unable to produce runs in the sixth inning. Missouri Valley tried to climb late in the top of the seventh, as both White and Loucas singled, but they could not reach home safely, and fell by a final score of 4-3.
Foster had one hit and two runs, White followed with one hit and one run scored. Dilla and Senior Rightfielder Ella Dillon (Sumner, Wash.) each added two hits.
The second game started with Park going in front early, scoring a run in the first and second inning. The Pirates increased their lead in the bottom of the third, using three hits to produce two runs, making it a 4-0 score. The top of the fourth opened with a single from Carvalho, followed by another single from Dilla to put two runners on-base. Senior Leftfielder Taya Brickner (Fort Collins, Colo.) had an RBI single to cut the deficit down to 4-1. Park got the runs back in the bottom half of the inning, scoring one run on two hits. The top of the fifth featured a single each from Senior Rightfielder Bryn Grandon (Paola, Kan.), Foster and Carvalho, but they were unable to reach home. Junior Pitcher Chloe Shuff (Cypress, Ca.) induced two fly-outs, facing the minimum in the bottom of the fifth. The Vikings put together some offense in the top of the sixth, as Dilla singled, Freshman Designated Player Breana Morgan (Moberly, Mo.) walked, and Grandon singled to allow Dilla to reach home. Later in the at-bat, Senior Shortstop Aniah Castruita (South El Monte, Calif.) followed with a single, bringing a runner home to close the gap down 5-3. After a scoreless bottom half of the inning for the Pirates, Missouri Valley was unable to put another on-base late in the game, and fell by a final score of 5-3.
Dilla led with three hits and one run scored, while Carvalho followed with two hits and one run. Grandon had two hits and one RBI, and Brickner added one hit and one RBI. Shuff pitched the complete-game, giving up eight hits and five earned runs.
Missouri Valley ends its season with a 7-39 record on the season and 4-24 record in the Heart. Park improves to 24-22 overall and 13-15 in the conference.
