Cross Country Competes at Heart Championships

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, (Nov. 8, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College cross country teams competed at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

 

Leading the men's team was Freshman Daniel Menefee (Ellisville, Mo.) who finished the 8k race in a time of 26:49 to place at No. 62.  Junior Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.) followed at No. 76 in a time of 27:32 with Freshman Angel Campos (Pharr, Texas) following at No. 119 in a time of 30:34.  Sophomore Evans Kiptoo (Eldoret, Kenya) placed at No. 122 in a time of 31:01 and the team scorers was capped by Freshman Bristol Sheetz (Winston, Mo.) at No. 123 in a time of 31:02.  Senior DeRel Morris (Orlando, Fla.) followed at No. 132 in a time of 32:54 and Sophomore Montique Griffiths (May Pen, Jamaica) came in at No. 133 in a time of 33:30.  Jaxson Gonzales finished in a time of 39:52 to place at No. 138 and Sophomore Amardeep Basra (Houston, Texas) came in at No. 139 in a time of 39:56.

 

As a team, the Vikings finished No. 12 overall with a total score of 346.  Park (Mo.) won the conference title with a team score of 25.

 

The women's team was led by Sophomore Brynna Wentland (Higginsville, Mo.) who ran the 6k race in a time of 29:11 to place at No. 114, and was followed by Candice Alabi who placed at No. 115 in a time of 30:37.  Senior Federica Gammarota (Foggia, Italy) placed at No. 118 in a time of 31:43, Junior Emily Dolberry (Arlington, Texas) finished in a time of 35:33 to place at No. 120 and Sophomore Faraja Nyasa (Kansas City, Mo.) placed at No. 121 to place at 43:24.

 

The Vikings placed No. 14 in the women's team standings with a 425 score.  Benedictine (Kan.) won the title with a total score of 30.
