Cross Country Competes at Larry Young Invite
Columbia, Mo., (Sept. 15, 2023)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's cross country teams continued their seasons competing at the Larry Young Invite hosted by Columbia (Mo.) in Columbia, Mo., Friday evening. The women's team had one runner finish in the top ten.
Leading the women's team was Freshman Jozelynn Bostick, who finished sixth in the 5k race with a time of 19:27. She was followed by Freshman Allexis Lark (Alma, Mo.), who placed No. 56 overall with a time of 24:13.
The men's team was led by Senior Khobi Kellerman (Auxvasse, Mo.) who finished at No. 40 with a time of 27:28 in the 8k race. Sophomore Daytona Blaine (Shelbina, Mo.) came in at No. 78 with a time of 29:18, while Senior Rodrigo Escalona-Rodriguez (El Paso, Texas) placed at No. 113 with a time of 33:57. Junior Tyler Polley (Brookfield, Mo.) came in at No. 118 with a time of 35:13 and Freshman Chase Kelley rounded out the team scorers with a time of 35:18 to place at No. 119. Freshman Angel Lopez (Los Fresnos, Texas) placed at No. 120 with a time of 36:56.
The men's team finished No. 12 in the standings with a total score of 324. Huntington (Ind.) won the meet with a score of 38. William Woods (Mo.) won the women's meet with a score of 41.
Up next, the Viking cross country teams compete at the University of Missouri Invite in Columbia, Mo., Sept. 29.
