Men's Wrestling Finish Competition at National Championship Producing Two All-Americans

Park City, Kan., (March 7, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team finished competition at the 2026 NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championship in Park City, Kan., Saturday.  The Vikings produced two All-Americans, and placed No. 16 in the team standings.

Results:

No. 3 Junior Haden Hernandez (Huntington Beach, Calif.)-125 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Christopher Calderon of Westcliff (Calif.) in a 13-11 decision.

Second Round: Defeated Jordan Rodriguez of Cleary (Mich.) in an 8-3 decision.

Quarterfinal: Lost to No. 6 Isaac Hampton of Southern Oregon in a 6-4 decision.

Consolation Fourth Round: Defeated No. 9 Kobi Johnson of Providence (Mont.) in a 7-0 decision.

Consolation Fifth Round: Lost to No. 12 Jesse Lewis of Wayland Baptist (Texas) in a 5-2 decision.

7th Place Match: Defeated Braden Ledford of Friends (Kan.) in an 8-0 major decision.

Hernandez is an All-American for the first time and placed seventh at 125 pounds.

No. 16 Freshman Tuvshinjargal Zuunbayan (Arlington Heights, Ill.)-133 pounds:

First Round: Defeated Blake Woolsey of Providence (Mont.) in an 11-3 major decision.

Second Round: Lost to No. 1 Aaron Lucio of Southeastern (Fla.) in a 10-3 decision. 

Consolation Second Round: Defeated No. 15 Lane Scorpil of William Penn (Iowa) in a 20-7 major decision.

Consolation Third Round: Defeated Landon Bertsch of Marian (Ind.) in a 21-5 technical fall.

Consolation Fourth Round: Defeated No. 14 Roman De La Cruz of St. Mary (Kan.) in a 19-3 technical fall.

Consolation Fifth Round: Lost to No. 10 Izaeah Beavers of Campbellsville (Ky.) in a 14-3 major decision.

7th Place Match: Lost to No. 3 Matthew Terrence of Doane (Neb.) in a 1-0 decision.

Zuunbayan is an All-American for the first time and placed eighth at 133 pounds.

First Round: Lost to Jordan Rodriguez of Cleary (Mich.) in a first period (2:01) pin.

Second Round: Lost to No. 3 Nik Yancey of Campbellsville (Ky.) in an 8-2 decision.

Consolation Second Round: Defeated Marlone Kirksy of Indiana Tech in a 10-2 major decision.

Consolation Third Round: Defeated Boedi Kirkland of Montreat (N.C.) in an 8-6 decision.

Consolation Fourth Round: Lost to No. 1 Kaden Fetterolf of Oklahoma City in an 11-3 major decision.

Second Round: Lost to Omari Smith of Oklahoma City in a 4-1 sudden-victory.

Consolation Second Round: Defeated KJ Fry of Graceland (Iowa) in a 13-5 major decision.

Consolation Third Round: Defeated Torrance Keehn of Concordia (Neb.) in a 4-2 decision.

Consolation Fourth Round: Lost to No. 7 Trenton Blomquist of Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) in an 8-3 decision.
