No. 9 Men's Wrestling Goes 3-0 at St. Mary Spires Duals

Leavenworth, Kan., (Nov. 22, 2025)- The No. 9 Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team traveled to Leavenworth, Kan., to compete in the St. Mary Spires Duals, Saturday.  The Vikings finished with a 3-0 record on the day, defeating Avila University (Mo.), Friends University (Kan.), and No. 18 Saint Mary (Kan.).

Vs. Avila (Kan.):

125 pounds: Freshman Rylen Gonda (Waianae, Hawaii) defeated Raul Romero in a 19-11 major decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 4-0.

133 pounds: No. 11 Freshman Aiden Serrano (Indianola, Iowa) defeated Aiden Pina in a second period (4:18) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 10-0.

141 pounds: Junior Blaine Ortiz (Pineville, Mo.) defeated Daniel Vines in a 13-8 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 13-0.

149 pounds: Freshman Thailyn Reynolds (Washilla, Alaska) defeated Dru Thomas in a 7-3 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 16-0.

157 pounds: No. 9 Sophomore Brayden Shelton (Centralia, Mo.) defeated Kristjan Marshall in a first period (1:49) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 22-0.

165 pounds: Junior Olson Anderson (Orting, Wash.) defeated Keenan Tumbarello in a first period (1:56) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 28-0.

174 pounds: Freshman Braelen Toles (Reno, Nev.) defeated Jase Motlagh in a first period (2:45) pin.  Missouri Valley leads, 34-0.

184 pounds: Freshman Luke Sarich (Weiser, Idaho) defeated Caleb Sharp in a 12-3 major decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 38-0.

197 pounds: Junior Emmanuel Ayi-Bonte (Woodbridge, Va.) lost to Rodney Trotter in a 22-1 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 38-5.

285 pounds: Junior Jayden Joseph (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) defeated No. 23 Gavin Howes in a 7-2 decision.

Missouri Valley defeated Avila, 41-5.

133 pounds: No. 4 Junior Haden Hernandez (Huntington Beach, Calif.) defeated Blake Slavin in a 19-2 technical fall.  Friends leads, 6-5.

141 pounds: No. 21 Junior Kristofer Arrey (Riverside, Calif.) lost to No. 13 Wyatt Gardner in a 6-3 sudden victory decision.  Friends leads, 5-9.

149 pounds: Freshman Thailyn Reynolds (Washilla, Alaska) defeated Tate Rusher in a 7-3 decision.  Friends leads, 9-8.

157 pounds: No. 9 Sophomore Brayden Shelton (Centralia, Mo.) lost to No. 23 Cayleb Atkins in a 5-3 decision.  Friends leads, 12-8.

285 pounds: No. 15 Senior Randy Gonzalez (Lakewood, Calif.) won by forfeit.

149 pounds: Freshman Thailyn Reynolds (Washilla, Alaska) defeated Ryan Bucco in a 9-6 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 14-3.

157 pounds: No. 9 Sophomore Brayden Shelton (Centralia, Mo.) lost to No. 12 Josey Jernegan in a 7-3 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 14-6.

165 pounds: No. 19 Senior Dayton Hill (Broken Arrow, Okla.) defeated Lleyton Hoover in a 19-6 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 19-6.

174 pounds: No. 5 Senior Francis Morrissey (Warner Robins, Ga.) defeated Michael Ager in a 16-11 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 22-6.

184 pounds: Freshman Luke Sarich (Weiser, Idaho) defeated Orinn Hubarro in a 10-6 decision.  Missouri Valley leads, 25-6.

197 pounds: No. 4 Senior Elijah Hynes (Broken Arrow, Okla.) defeated No. 21 Gabe Chesbro in a 19-3 technical fall.  Missouri Valley leads, 30-6.

285 pounds: No. 15 Senior Randy Gonzalez (Lakewood, Calif.) defeated Devon Lolar by fall. 

Missouri Valley defeated Saint Mary, 36-6.

Missouri Valley moves to 5-2 on the season in duals.

Up next, the Viking men's wrestling team will travel to Crete, Neb., to compete at the Doane (Neb.) Tournament on December 6, starting at 9 a.m.
