Men's Wrestling Moves into the Top Ten, and Nine Individuals Nationally Ranked
Marshall, Mo., (Nov. 20, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's wrestling team moved into the top ten of the NAIA Men's Wrestling Coaches' Top 25 Poll, released Thursday. A season-high nine individuals are Nationally ranked.
The Viking men's wrestling team moved up two spots from its previous position, and are now No. 9 in the rankings. The Vikings competed at the Dan Harris Open, in Baldwin City, Kan., and defeated Briar Cliff (Iowa) in a dual on the road, 38-2, during the latest ratings period.
Missouri Valley is one of four teams from the Heart of America Athletic Conference ranked in the coaches' poll. Grand View (Iowa) remains No. 1, Central Methodist (Mo.) sits at No. 13, affiliate member Dickinson State (N.D.) is No. 19, and Baker dropped to No. 25. The Vikings go to Grand View for a dual, Jan. 15 and host Central Methodist in a dual, Feb. 5.
A total of nine individuals from the team are ranked in their respective weight classes, led by No. 4 Junior Haden Hernandez (Huntington Beach, Calif.) at 133 pounds and No. 4 Senior Elijah Hynes (Broken Arrow, Okla.) at 197 pounds. Also, Senior Francis Morrissey (Warner Robins, Ga.) is No. 5 at 174 pounds. The other six ranked individuals include:
No. 10 Junior Robert Albert (Cape Coral, Fla.) at 125 pounds.
No. 11 Freshman Aiden Serrano (Indianola, Iowa) at 133 pounds.
No. 21 Junior Kristofer Arrey (Riverside, Calif.) at 149 pounds.
No. 9 Sophomore Brayden Shelton (Centralia, Mo.) at 157 pounds.
No. 10 Senior Dayton Hill (Broken Arrow, Okla.) at 165 pounds.
No. 15 Senior Randy Gonzalez (Lakewood, Colo.) at 285 pounds.
Up next, the men's wrestling team will compete in the St. Mary's (Kan.) Spires Duals, in Leavenworth, Kan., and at the UCM Kaufman Brand Brayly Open in Warrensburg, Mo., Saturday, starting at 9 a.m.
