Powerlifting Team Produces Two All-Americans at USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals
Oklahoma City, Okla., (April 7, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College powerlifting team competed at the USA Powerlifting Collegiate Nationals in Oklahoma City, Okla. A total of 13 Vikings competed, and the team produced two All-Americans.
Day One:
Sophomore Corey Morabito (Lansdale, Pa.) placed fourth in the men's equipped 56kg weight class with a 192.5kg/424.4lb squat, a 132.5kg/292.1lb bench, a 200kg/440.9lb deadlift, and a 525kg/1,157.4lb total.
Junior Sarah Khamis (Vienna, Austria) placed 12th in the women's 60kg raw weight class with a 140kg/308.6lb squat, a 70kg/154.3lb bench, a 165kg/363.7lb deadlift, and a 375kg/ 826.7lb total.
Day Two:
Freshman Caiden Sanford (Jefferson City, Mo.) placed fifth and earned a medal in the men's 75kg equipped weight class with a 245kg/540.1lb squat, a 162.5kg/358.2lb bench, a 270kg/595.2lb deadlift, and a 677.5kg/1,493.6lb total.
Freshman Hannah Miller (Marshall, Mo.) pulled 150kg/ 330.7lb on deadlift in the women's 65kg raw weight class.
Freshman Delaney Welker (Mascoutah, Ill.) placed 15th in the women's 75kg equipped weight class with a 140kg/308.7lb squat, a 57.5kg/126.8lb bench, a 155kg/341.7lb deadlift, and a 352.5kg/ 777.1lb total.
Day Three:
Freshman Seth De Leon (Devine, Texas) placed tenth in the men's 87.5kg equipped weight class with a 245kg/540.1lb squat, a 192.5kg/424.4lb bench, a 227.5kg/501.5lb deadlift, and a 665kg/1,466lb total.
Day Four:
Senior Audrey Schoch (San Antonio, Texas) placed third in the women's raw 90kg weight class, earning the title of Collegiate All-American with a 200kg/440.9lb squat, a 75kg/165.3lb bench, a 182.5kg/402.3lb deadlift, and a 457.5kg/1,008.6lb total.
Senior Lauren Bates (Kearney, Mo.) placed third in the women's raw 100+kg weight class, earning the title of Collegiate All American with a 197.5kg/435.4lb squat, a 92.5kg/203.9lb bench, a 207.5kg/457.4lb deadlift, and a 497.5kg/1,096.8lb total.
Freshman Syrah Garcia (Encinal, Texas) placed 12th in the women's 100+kg equipped weight class with a 160kg/352.7lb squat, a 70kg/154.3lb bench, a 170kg/347.4lb deadlift, and a 400kg/881.8lb total.
Sophomore Azlyn Schwarzer (Burleson, Texas) placed 12th in the women's 90kg equipped weight class with a 162.5kg/358.2lb squat, an 82.5kg/181.8lb bench, a 160kg/352.7lb deadlift, and a 405kg/892.8lb total.
Junior Gabe Pineda (Marshall, Mo.) benched 207.5kg/457.5lb, and deadlifted 252.5kg/556.7lb in the 100kg men's equipped weight class.
Senior Markus Stepanoff (Milton, Ontario) placed 14th in the men's equipped collegiate 125kg weight class with a 232.5kg/512.5lb squat, a 162.5kg/358.3lb bench, a 275kg/606.3lb deadlift, and a 670kg/1,477.1lb total.
Sophomore Nicholas Ballard (Demopolis, Ala.) placed 15th in the men's equipped collegiate 125kg weight class with a 257.5kg/567.7lb squat, a 155kg/341.2lb bench, a 250kg/551.2lb deadlift, and a 662.5kg/1,460.6 total.
The men's equipped team finished at No. 12 in the standings, out of 32 schools, and the women's equipped team placed at No. 14. The women's raw team placed No. 14 overall, with only three competitors, out of 104 total schools.
Both Bates and Schoch are now two-time All-Americans for the powerlifting program.
