Bio

Scott Roberts was named the Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach at Missouri Valley College in the summer of 2025.  Previously, he led the men's and women's programs at Hawkeye Community College for two years, beginning in January of 2023.
 
Roberts joined the RedTails after his most recent coaching position as the head girls cross country/track and field coach at Muscatine Community Schools. Prior to Muscatine, Roberts served as the head coach at Lindenwood University as well as an assistant coach at the University of Memphis, University of Texas El Paso (UTEP), University of Alabama, Iowa State University, and Drake University.
 
While at Hawkeye CC, the Hawkeye women’s track and field program earned a 3rd place team finish at the Region XI Indoor Championships. This was the highest women’s team finish at the Indoor Region XI Championships in school history. The men’s team took 4th place at the Indoor Region XI Indoor Championship, which was also the highest men’s team finish in school history. During the 2023 indoor campaign, Abby Bartz won the women’s Region XI championship in the weight throw and Tino Tamayo won the men’s Region XI championship in the weight throw. Bartz earned First Team Women’s All-Region Honors, Jordan Gallentine earned Second team All-Region consideration in the 600m run and Sydnie Martin took second-team honors in the 800m during the indoor campaign. On the men’s side, Tamayo earned First Team honors in the weight throw while D‘Artagnon Beaver earned second team consideration in the 5000m run. Both the men’s 4x400m relay team of Brigham Daniel, Blake Osborn, Sean Knockel and Chase Mullenix and the men’s distance medley relay team of Zach Niederklopfer, Sean Knockel, Austin Langreck and Hunter Hughlette earned honorable mention honors at the Indoor Region XI championships. At the NJCAA Indoor National Championships, Abby Bartz took 8 th in the nation in the shot put, earning First Team All-American honors and fi nished eleventh in the women’s weight throw to earn second team All-American honors in that event. On the men’s side, Blake Osborn fi nished sixth in the nation in the 600m run to earn First Team All-American accolades. D’Artagnon Beaver took sixteenth place in the 5000m run, earning second team All-American honors. The 2023 outdoor season saw the women repeat their 3 rd place Region XI fi nish and set a school record with 100 team points. The men took 4 th place. These were also the highest outdoor team fi nishes in school history. Maddie Tieskotter was the women’s Region XI champion in the 5000m run and Victoria McCraney earned second team honors in the pole vault. Earning honorable Mention honors were Carlie Hoppe in the pole vault, Jordan Gallentine in the 400m dash and Elyse Trunck in the women’s discus throw. For the men, D'Artagnon Beaver took All-Region Honorable Mention honors in the 10,000m run and Travis Brace earned Honorable Mention honors in the pole vault. Brant Williams went on to fi nish thirteenth at the NJCAA National Championships in the javelin, earning second team All-American honors. As the head coach of Lindenwood University, Roberts helped lead the program in transition from the NAIA to the NCAA DII level. He coached 22 NCAA All-Americans, 10 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) champions, one men's cross country conference championship, and two NCAA DII top-25 fi nishes. In his six years at the helm, the program produced 69 All-MIAA honors, and 47 U.S. Track and Field/Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) All-Central Region Awards. In addition to the success on the course and track, his athletes also excelled in the classroom, amassing 22 MIAA Academic Excellence awards, 16 MIAA Scholar-Athlete honors, and 238 MIAA Academic Honor Roll accolades. As the assistant coach at UTEP and the University of Alabama, Coach Roberts worked primarily with the sprints, hurdles, jumps, and combined-events. He coached 30 NCAA All-Americans, two Olympians, fi ve SEC Champions, and two SEC Freshman of the Year.
 
During his 11 years at Iowa State University, Roberts focused on the women's sprints, hurdles, and combined-events where he coached 24 NCAA All-Americans, 10 Big 12 Champions, two Olympians, and one World Championships fi nalist. Coach Roberts received a Bachelors from Midland Lutheran College (Midland University). He is a USA Track & Field (USATF) Coaching Education Lead Instructor, and has his USATF Level I and II certifi cations in sprints, hurdles, relays, and jumps.
