Men's Tennis Tops Two Heart Opponents on the Road

Lawrence, Kan., (March 14, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's tennis team played matches against Heart of America Athletic Conference opponents through the weekend in Lawrence, Kan.  The Vikings picked up their first win of the spring season, against Grand View (Iowa), and topped Baker (Kan.).

 

Vs. Grand View (Iowa)

Singles:

No. 1-Senior Alexander Ballinger (Northampton, England) defeated Alecson Deschamps, 6-7, 7-6, 10-4.

No. 2-Sophomore Guilherme Silva (Torres Novas, Portugal) lost to Enzo Naveda, 2-6, 5-7.

No. 3-Junior Bogdan Zakharov (Kokshetau, Kazakhstan) defeated Taseu, 6-3, 6-2.

No. 4-Junior Luca Stadtfeld (Cologne, Germany) defeated Adrian Reyes, 6-1, 6-4.

No. 5-Sophomore Felix Ortola (Madrid, Spain) lost to Pierre de Chasses, 1-6, 4-6.

No. 6-Sophomore Vicente Leigh (Santiago, Chile) defeated Dylan Schmidt, 5-7, 6-1, 10-7.

 

Doubles:

No. 1-Ballinger/Silva lost to Deschamps/Taseu, 2-6.

No. 2-Zakharov/Stadtfeld defeated Schmidt/Reyes, 7-6.

No. 3-Ortola/Leigh lost to Naveda/de Chasses, 0-6.

Missouri Valley defeated Grand View, 4-3.

Singles:

No. 1-Ballinger lost to Spencer Keeter, 6-7, 2-6.

No. 2-Silva Lost to Lucas Machado, 5-7, 1-6.

No. 3-Zakharov defeated Jonathan Hillock, 6-0, 6-2.

No. 4-Stadtfeld lost to Santiago Jaime, 2-6, 6-4, 8-10.

No. 5-Ortola lost to Andrew Aylor, 7-6, 4-6, 8-10.

No. 6-Leigh lost to Grant Hinkle, 1-6, 7-6, 11-13.

 

Doubles:

No. 1-Ballinger/Silva defeated Keeter/Aylor, 7-5.

No. 2-Zakharov/Stadtfeld lost to Machado/Jaime, 3-6.

No. 3-Ortola/Leigh defeated Hillock/Hinkle, 6-2.

John Brown defeated Missouri Valley, 5-2.

Singles:

No. 1-Ballinger lost to Jhon Ramirez, 6-2, 4-6, 9-11.

No. 2-Silva lost to Immo Ferger, 0-6, 5-7.

No. 3-Zakharov defeated Arturo Nunez, 6-2, 3-6, 10-6.

No. 4-Stadtfeld lost to River Flaska, 5-7, 5-7.

No. 5-Ortola defeated Corvin Christ, 6-0, 6-2.

No. 6-Leigh defeated Carlos Alcala, 4-6, 7-6, 11-9.

 

Doubles:

No. 1-Ballinger/Silva lost to Ramirez/Christ, 2-6.

No. 2-Zakharov/Stadtfeld defeated Nunez/Flaska, 6-2.

No. 3-Ortola/Leigh defeated Ferger/Alcala, 6-3.

Missouri Valley defeated Baker, 4-3.

 

Missouri Valley moves to 3-5 on the season.

 

Up next, the Viking tennis teams will host Concordia (Neb.) in matches, Friday at 12 p.m., at Indian Foothills Park.
