Men's Tennis Opens Fall Season With Sweep of William Jewell
Marshall, Mo., (Sept. 16, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College men's tennis team opened its fall competition season with home matches against NCAA Division II William Jewell (Mo.) at Indian Foothills Park. The Vikings swept through the contest, 7-0.
Singles:
No. 1-Senior Alex Ballinger (Northampton, England) defeated Ian Lewis, 6-2, 6-4.
No. 2-Sergio Farnos defeated Patrick Terry, 6-2, 6-0.
No. 3-Junior Bogdan Zakharov (Astana, Kazakhstan) defeated Kyle Ring, 7-6, 6-2.
No. 4-Sophomore Guilherme Silva (Torres Novas, Portugal) defeated Tristan DePernia, 6-0, 6-0.
No. 5-Sophomore Richard Tasev (Lisbon, Portugal) defeated Jace Walker, 6-0, 6-0
No. 6-Sophomore Vicente Leigh (Santiago, Chile) defeated Clarke Shields, 6-0, 6-4.
Doubles:
No. 1-Ballinger/Zakharov defeated Lewis/King, 7-6.
No. 2-Farnos/Sophomore Felix Ortola (Madrid, Spain) defeated Terry/DePernia, 6-2.
No. 3-Silva/Tasev defeated Walker/Shields, 6-1.
The Viking men's tennis team improved to 1-0 on the season.
Up next, the men's team will travel to St. Louis, Mo., for matches with Missouri Baptist, Friday.
