Men's Rodeo Finishes as Reserve Champions at CNFR

Casper, Wyo., (June 21, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College rodeo teams finished competition Saturday evening at the 2025 College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyo., with the short go-round.  Three Vikings competed, all in bareback riding, led by reserve champion Junior Kooper Heimburg (San Tan Valley, Ariz.), as the team finished second overall in the final standings.

 

In bareback riding, Heimburg finished as the reserve champion in the event, earning an 83 to place third in the short go-round.  Heimburg ended with an average of 324 on four rides, only one point behind the National championship.  He collected 245 points, and becomes a two-time All-American.

 

Also in bareback riding, Junior Bryce Eck (Redfield, Kan.) finished with an 82.5 to place fourth in the short go-round, and claimed fifth overall in the average, totaling 315.5 points on four rides, becoming an All-American for the first time.  Eck earned 132.5 points on the week.  Sophomore Jason Wilson (Pownal, Vt.) took ninth in the short go-round with a 77.5 and was No. 12 in the average, with a 303 on four rides, he earned 70 points on the week.

 

On the week, Heimburg won the third go-round with an 81.5 in bareback riding, and Eck was second in the third go-round with an 80.5.

 

Earlier this week for the men's team in bareback riding, Freshman Collin Roland (Fayetteville, Ala.) finished with a 66.5 in his only ride, coming in the second go-round. In steer wrestling, Sophomore Carson Ball (Bruner, Mo.) finished at No. 15 in the average with an 8.9 on two rides.  Ball was second in the second go-round with a 4.4 and followed with a 4.5 in the third go-round to place third and collect a total of 120 points.  Also for the men's team, Eck finished with one ride in saddle bronc riding, a 76 in the second go-round, and Freshman Treg Huver (Nashville, Tenn.) did not score on his three rides.

 

On the women's side, Brisbane placed at No. 27 in the goat tying average with a 23.9.  In breakaway roping, Freshman Codie Vaughan (Searcy, Ark.) placed at No. 32 with an average of 24.4 on two rides, and Sophomore Addi Williams (Harrisburg, Ark.) had a 3.3 on one ride.  Das finished at No. 41 in barrel racing, with a 54.78 in the average.

 

The men's team finished as the reserve champions in the final team standings with 567.5 points, trailing only Tarleton State (Texas), which earned 817.5 points.  Montana Western was third with 550 points.  This finish is tied for the best in program-history, joining the reserve championship from the 2010 CNFR.
