No. 11 Men's Golf Produces Team Title at MVC Spring Invitational

Marshall, Mo., (April 21, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College men's and women's golf teams hosted the MVC Spring Invitational at Indian Foothills Golf Course, Monday and Tuesday.  The No. 11 men's team finished first overall, and both teams produced multiple top five individuals.

 

Leading the men's "A" team was Freshman Felipe Suarez (Cordoba, Argentina) who finished second overall with a three-round score of -13 (203), two shots back of first place.  Suarez opened with a first round score of -5 (67) and followed with scores of -4 (68) in the second and third rounds.  He was one of only two golfers to go under-70 in each round of the tournament.

 

Following Suarez was Senior Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) who placed third with a final score of -8 (208).  De Jager started the tournament with a -4 (68) in the first round, then added second and third rounds scores of -2 (70) to close out his tournament.  Sophomore Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe) was fourth overall with a -6 (210).  Storrer began with a -5 (67) in the first round and added a -5 (67) in the third round.  Finishing out the team scorers was Freshman Joaquin Raminger (Buenos Aires, Argentina) who placed ninth with a -1 (215).  Raminger's lowest score came in the second round with a -4 (68).  Junior Leo Burger (Johannesburg, South Africa) placed No. 47 overall with a final score of +15 (231).

 

The "B" team was led by Senior Dominic Hoskin (Witham, England), who placed No. 21 with a +5 (221) final score.  Hoskin shot a -1 (71) in both the first and third rounds.  Sohpomore Gabriel Pereira Leite (Lisbon, Portugal) came in at No. 24 with a +6 (222), Junior Valentin Bosdari (Mendoza, Argentina) finished at +12 (228) to place at No. 41 and Freshman Rodrigo Bowen Martinez Casado (Gijon, Spain) rounded out the team scorers with a final score of +18 (234) to place at No. 55.  Senior Chad Coburn (Bloemfontein, South Africa) posted a -4 (68) in the second round, but did not finish his third round.

 

The "C" team was led by Senior Ryan Van Eyk (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) at No. 15 with a final score of +2 (218), which included a -2 (70) in the first round.  Freshman Tomas Suau (Cordoba, Argentina) came in at No. 27 with a +7 (223) and had one of the lowest second round scores with a -4 (68).  Sophomore Jan Stals Van Rooyen (Cape Town, South Africa) came in at No. 41 with a +12 (228) and Sophomore Tyler Adams (St. Charles, Mo.) added a +16 (232) to place at No. 50.  Esteban Cervantes placed at No. 58 with a +19 (235).

 

The "D" team was led by Junior Julian Ayape (Bayonne, France) at No. 24 in the standings with a final score of +6 (222), which included a -1 (71) in the third round.  Freshman Chase Schlossenberg (Kansas City, Mo.) came in at No. 52 with a final score of +17 (233), Senior Jules Garrett (Lyon, France) totaled a +22 (238) to place at No. 63 and Freshman Kannon Kovar (Wylie, Texas) was the final team scorer with a +28 (244) to place at No. 69. 

 

The "E" team was led by Freshman Gaspard Bidault (Santenay, France) at No. 55 with a final score of +18 (234), followed by Junior Sebastian Liffers (Heitersheim, Germany) at No. 62 with a +20 (236).  Sophomore Tomas Ayape (Bayonne, France) came in at No. 63 with a +22 (238) and Sophomore Guillermo Gil Llorens (Alcala de Henares, Spain) totaled a +31 (247) to place at No. 73.  Sophomore Jacob Salas (Hillsboro, Mo.) added a +61 (270) to place at No. 86.

 

Several Vikings played as individuals in the tournament.  Freshman Justin Case (Fulton, Mo.) placed No. 78 with a final score of +36 (252), Freshman Aaron Allen (Leavenworth, Kan.) placed No. 83 with a final score of +49 (265), Junior Alex Ballinger (Northampton, England) placed No. 86 with a final score of +61 (277) and Junior Jackson Tobias (Warrenton, Mo.) placed at No. 89 with a final score of +142 (358).

 

The Viking women's team was led by Junior Hanna Rieker (Munich, Germany) who placed fourth overall with a final score of +28 (244), finishing four shots back of first place.  Sophomore Sydney Righter (Camdenton, mo.) and Sophomore Victoria Mendard Varela (Coruna, Spain) came in at No. 18, both finishing at +55 (271) and Senior Kali Brown (Smithville, Mo.) rounded out the team scorers with a +57 (273) to place at No. 22.  Senior Madison Mills (Willard, Mo.) finished at No. 31 with a +80 (296).

 

Two Vikings played as individuals.  Junior Jalynn Allen (Lebanon, Mo.) placed at No. 24 with a +63 (279) and Freshman Moriah Bolin (St. Louis, Mo.) placed at No. 36 with a +111 (327).

 

The men's "A" team won the tournament with a final score of -28 (836) to defeated No. 21 William Woods (Mo.) by five strokes.  Mount Mercy (Iowa) was third with a +8 (872).  The women's team placed fourth with a +189 (1053).  Baker (Kan.) won the women's title with a +115 (979), William Penn (Iowa) was second with a +147 (1011) and William Woods (Mo.) was third with a +163 (1027).

 

Up next, both Viking golf teams will compete at their respective Heart of America Athletic Conference Championships.  Both tournaments take place at Paradise Point in Smithville, Mo.  The men's tournament runs April 27-28, and the women's tournament is May 4-5.
