No. 11 Men's Golf Overcomes Tough Weather to Win CBC Spring Invite

Cabot, Ark., (March 17, 2026)- The No. 11 Missouri Valley College men's golf team traveled to Cabot, Ark., to play in the Central Baptist (Ark.) Spring Invite at Cypress Creek Golf Course.  Playing in windy and cold conditions, the team finished with a strong third round to win the tournament, and take the top two spots on the player leaderboard.

Leading the team was Freshman Felipe Suarez (Cordoba, Argentina), who finished with a three-round score of -2 (214) to win the tournament.  Suarez opened with an even-par (72) in the first round, followed by a +5 (77) in the second round, both played on Monday.  In Tuesday's third round, Suarez finished with a -7 (65), four strokes better than any other golfer in the round.  Suarez won the tournament by eight strokes, and was the only golfer to finish under-par in the tournament.

Following in tie for second place was Freshman Joaquin Raminger (Buenos Aires, Argentina) at +2 (222).  Raminger improved over all three rounds, starting with a +6 (78) in the first round, then shooting a +2 (74) in the second round.  In the final round on Tuesday, Raminger ended with a -2 (70), one of only five golfers to finish under-par in the round.  Junior Leo Burger (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Sophomore Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe) both came in at a tie for No. 15 overall with +19 (235) finishes to complete the team scorers.  Burger shot an even-par (72) in the third round.  The fifth golfer on the team Sophomore was Gabriel Pereira Leite (Lisbon, Portugal), who came in at No. 37 with a final score of +28 (244).

Also, one member of the team played as an individual.  Freshman Rodrigo Bowen Martinez Casado (Gijon, Spain) shot a +20 (236) to place at No. 17, and carded a -1 (71) in the third round.

As a team Missouri Valley won the 14-team tournament field with a final score of +42 (906), nearly 30 strokes ahead of second place Mineral Area (Mo.), at +69 (933).  Central Baptist was third with a +72 (936).  The Vikings closed the tournament with a -5 (283) in the third round to secure the team title.

"I'm very proud of the attitude, determination and resilience of the team this week," said Men's & Women's Golf Head Coach Stephen Main.  "Especially on Monday where we battled through 36 holes in brutal wind and very cold conditions.  We had a late schedule change that left us spending a lot of time on the road, but I can't speak highly enough of the guys for how they overcame several obstacles and came out with a solid win."

Up next, both Viking men's and women's golf teams will compete at the CMU Spring Invite, at Hail Ridge Golf Course in Boonville, Mo., March 23-24.
