Men's Golf Closes Fall Season at Columbia Invite

Columbia, Mo., (Oct. 29, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's golf program had its varsity reserve teams compete at the Columbia (Mo.) Cougar Fall Invitational at the Columbia Country Club in Columbia, Mo.  One individual finished in the top ten to lead three separate teams at the tournament.

 

The men's "B" team was led by Sophomore Ryan Van Eyk (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) who finished at No. 14 overall with a two-round score of +8 (152), nine shots back of first place.  Sophomore Valentine Bosdari (Mendoza, Argentina) followed at No. 19 with a final score of +12 (156), and Junior Dominic Hoskin (Witham, England) had a total of +21 (165) to place at No. 42.  Senior Joaquin Calderon (Quito, Ecuador) finished out the team scorers with a +23 (167) to place at No. 45, and Freshman Nolan Gordon (Salisbury, Mo.) totaled a +27 (171) to place at No. 55.

 

The men's "C" team was led by Senior Jesus Perez (Sevilla, Spain) who finished at No. 19 in the standings with a two-round total of +12 (156).  Sophomore Julian Ayape (Bayonne, France) followed at No. 25 with a +15 (159), and both Freshman Gabriel Pereira Leite (Lisbon, Portugal) and Senior Isaac Taleb (Pereira, Colombia) totaled a +23 (167) to place at No. 45 to round out the team scorers.  Freshman Tyler Adams (St. Charles, Mo.) finished at +27 (171) to place at No. 55.

 

The men's "D" team was led by the top individual for the program, Freshman Mateo Cadario (Santa Cruz, Bolivia), who totaled a +4 (148) to place at seventh in the standings.  Cadario had the lowest score of any golfer in the second round, coming in with a -1 (71).  Freshman Tomas Ayape (Bayonne, France) followed at No. 27 with a +16 (160), while Senior Leonardo Borzaga (Trento, Italy) and Freshman Guillermo Gil Llorens (Alcala de Henares, Spain) both totaled a +29 (173) to place at No. 57 and round out the team scorers.

 

Three Vikings played as individuals.  Freshman Hayden Johnson (St. Clair, Mo.) came in at No. 68 with a +55 (199), Freshman Jacob Salas (Hillsboro, Mo.) totaled a +62 (206) to place at No. 71 and Sophomore Jackson Tobias (Warrenton, Mo.) had a +101 (245) to place at No. 73.

 

The "B" team placed fifth overall with a total of +63 (639).  The "C" team came in at +70 (646) to place seventh and the "D" team placed ninth with a +78 (654).  Columbia (Mo.) won the tournament with a +8 (584).

 

This finishes out the fall competition season for the men's and women's golf programs, with the spring season resuming in March.
