Golf Teams Continue Fall Season at William Woods Fall Invite

Fulton, Mo., (Sept. 17, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College golf teams competed at the William Woods (Mo.) Fall Invite at Tanglewood Golf Course.

 

The men's "A" team was led by Freshman Brad Storrer (Harare, Zimbabwe) who finished with a two-round score of -2 (142) to place ninth overall, five strokes back of first place.  Storrer had one of the lowest rounds of any golfer in the tournament, with a -5 (67) in the first round.  Junior Chad Corburn (Bloemfontein, South Africa) placed at No. 17 with a +1 (145), followed by Sophomore Sebastian Liffers  (Heitersheim, Germany) at No. 37 with a +7 (151).  Senior Cade Basson (George, South Africa) rounded out the team scorers with a +10 (154) to place at No. 43.

 

The men's "B" team was led by Sophomore Ryan Van Eyk (Port Elizabeth, South Africa) at No. 23 overall with a +3 (147).  Senior Joaquin Calderon (Quito, Ecuador) came in at No. 26 with a +4 (148) and Junior Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) had a +6 (150) to place at No. 32.  Freshman Nolan Gordon (Salisbury, Mo.) finished out the team scorers with a +12 (156) to place at No. 52, and Senior Jesus Perez (Sevilla, Spain) had a +12 (156) to also place at No. 52.

 

The men's "A" team placed seventh overall with a final score of +14 (590).  The "B" team placed ninth with a +24 (600).  William Woods won the tournament with a -14 (562).

 

Leading the women's team was Junior Hanna Rieker (Munich, Germany), who shot a two-round total of +9 (153) to finish at No. 11 in the standings, 12 strokes behind the leader.  Sophomore Kendra Warden (Ontario, Canada) followed at No. 21 with a +18 (162), while Freshman Sydney Righter (Camdenton, Mo.) had a +27 (171) to come in at No. 29.  Freshman Victoria Menard Varela (Coruna, Spain) rounded out the team scorers with a +41 (185) to place at No. 39 and Freshman Ariana Chapa  (Edinburg, Texas) placed at No. 48 with a +52 (196).

 

The women's team finished sixth overall with a total score of +95.  Park (Mo.) won the tournament with a +9.
