Men's Golf Opens Fall Season at Mid-South Classic

Newton, Kan., (Sept. 4, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College men's golf team opened its fall competition season playing at the Mid-South Classic at Sand Creek Station in Newton, Kan.  The Vikings finished in the top ten overall with one individual in the top 25.

 

Leading the team was Junior Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa), who finished the three-round tournament with a score of +5 (221) to place at No. 23.  De Jager had the second-lowest score of any golfer in the third round, with a -3 (69).  Sophomore Valentin Bosdari (Mendoza, Argentina) followed at No. 41 overall with a +11 (227).  Bosdari finished the tournament with an even-par (72) in the third round.  Sophomore Sebastian Liffers (Heitersheim, Germany) came in at No. 48 with a +15 (231), while Junior Dominic Hoskin (Witham, England) completed the team scorers with a +17 (233) to place at No. 53.  Senior Joaquin Calderon (Quito, Ecuador) came in at No. 66 with a +24 (240).

 

Playing individually for the Vikings included Junior Patrick Hauschildt (Hamburg, Germany), who placed at No. 56 with a +18 (234), Freshman Landin Neill (Smithville, Mo.) with a +20 (236) to place at No. 61, Senior Jesus Perez (Sevilla, Spain) with a +31 (247) to place at No. 71 and Senior Leonardo Borzaga (Trento, Italy) who placed at No. 73 with a +35 (251).

 

As a team, Missouri Valley finished ninth overall with a total of +38 (902).  The team ended the tournament with the third-lowest score of the third round, totaling an even-par (288).  No. 11 Wayland Baptist (Texas) won the tournament with a -3 (861) team score.

 

Up next, the Viking men's and women's golf teams will host the Missouri Valley Fall Invitational at Indian Foothills Golf Course, Monday and Tuesday.
