Golf Teams Open Spring Season at Columbia Spring Invite

Columbia, Mo., (March 12, 2024)- The Missouri Valley College golf teams opened their spring competition seasons at the Columbia (Mo.) College Spring Invitational at the Columbia Country Club in Columbia, Mo., this week.  The men's team finished third with a pair of top ten individuals, and the women's team produced one top ten placer.

 

Leading the men's team were both Sophomore Nelius De Jager (Upington, South Africa) and Junior Cade Basson (George, South Africa) who finished tied for sixth with two-round scores of +5 (149).  De Jager finished with a -1 (71) in the second round, while Basson had the best first round score of -3 (69).  The pair finished six shots back of first place.  Sophomore Dominic Hoskin (Witham, England) followed with a final score of +11 (155) to place at No. 12 and Freshman Valentin Bosdari (Mendoza, Argentina) rounded out the team scorers with a +13 (157) to place at No. 21.  Freshman Cadyn Sava (Arlington, Wash.) came in at No. 29 with a +15 (159).

 

The men's "B" team was led by Sophomore Patrick Hauschildt (Hamburg, Germany) who finished at No. 12 with a score of +11 (155).  Sophomore Jules Garret (Lyon, France) was No. 21 overall with a +13 (157) and Freshman Sebastian Liffers (Heitersheim, Germany) finished with a +14 (158) to place at No. 26.  Freshman Benjamin Searle (Kent, England) rounded out the team scorers with a +18 (162) to place at No. 33.  Freshman Shawn Glover (Syracuse, Utah) did not complete his second round.

 

For the women's team, Freshman Kendra Warden (Paris, Canada) and Sophomore Madison Mills (Willard, Mo.) played as individuals.  Warden finished at sixth in the standing with a two-round score of +30 (174) and Mills totaled a +53 (197) to place at No. 13.

 

The Viking men's golf team placed third overall with a total of +34 (610).  No. 7 Columbia (Mo.) won the tournament with an even-par (576), and No. 25 William Woods (Mo.) was second with a +27 (603).
