Football Drops Road Game to Central Methodist to Close Season
Fayette, Mo., (Nov. 15, 2025)-The Missouri Valley College football team traveled to Fayette, Mo., for a Heart of America Athletic Conference South Division contest to close the 2025 season. The Vikings fell to close the season, 34-21.
Missouri Valley received the opening kickoff to begin the game, but punted to CMU for its first possession. Central Methodist followed with a scoring drive, running off five plays to score a touchdown and move to a 7-0 advantage with less than four minutes played. Missouri Valley followed with a turnover, as a fumble was recovered by the Eagles. The first play of the ensuing drive ended in a touchdown, and MVC trailed, 14-0.
The next possession for Missouri Valley featured three completions from Junior Quarterback Tomele Staples (Kanakee, Ill.). The third completion was for a 30-yard touchdown to Junior Tight End DJ Holly (Los Angeles, Calif.). Sophomore Kicker Bruno Kincaid (Madrid, Spain) made the extra-point, and MVC trailed 14-7 with just over five minutes played in the first quarter.
The Viking defense forced a stop on the next CMU possession, but Missouri Valley punted on its ensuing possession. The Eagles put together another scoring drive late in the quarter, finishing off a nine-play drive with a touchdown to make it a 21-7 advantage. The ensuing drive for MVC featured a 72-yard run for Freshman Quarterback Joseph Glennon (Tampa, Fla.) for a touchdown, and the score sat at 21-14 going into the second quarter of play.
Missouri Valley punted on its first possession of the quarter, and Central Methodist tacked on another touchdown, to make it a 28-14 deficit for MVC with less than five minutes played in the second quarter. The Vikings followed with four-straight completions from Glennon. Glennon completed six passes in a seven-play, 76-yard drive, which ended on a three-yard touchdown pass to Junior Wide Receiver Adonis Whitley (St. Louis, Mo.) to make it a 28-21 score midway through the quarter.
The two teams traded possession over the final stretch of play in the half, and Missouri Valley went into halftime trailing, 28-14.
The two teams traded punts through the first stretch of the third quarter. Freshman Punter Ben Bullock (Perth, Australia) got off a 50-yard and 39-yard punt through the 10-minute mark of the quarter. Central Methodist tacked on a field goal midway through the quarter, and held a 31-21 lead.
The next scoring drive for either team came early in the fourth quarter, when CMU made a field goal to make it a 34-21 score with less than 12-minutes to play in the game. The next drive for Missouri Valley featured the team putting together 13 plays, and converting on fourth down to eventually reach the Eagle eight-yard line. However, MVC turned the ball over on downs, and Central Methodist eventually finished out a 34-21 final score.
Staples finished 16 of 25 passing for 144 yards and one touchdown, and Glennon had nine completions for 80 yards and one touchdown, with one rushing touchdown. Sophomore Running Back Silas Mortan (Strafford, Mo.) totaled 50 yards rushing on 16 attempts. Whitley collected six receptions for 60 yards and one touchdown, and Holly had two receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown.
Freshman Linebacker Mason Lipsey totaled eight tackles and one tackle-for-loss. Senior Defensive Lineman Ryan Greenwood (Beaumont, Texas) had eight tackles and a half tackle-for-loss. Sophomore Linebacker Noah Carr (Kissimmee, Fla.) added sis tackles and two tackles-for-loss.
Bullock averaged 35.3 yards per punt on six punts and had two punts land inside the 20-yard line. Kincaid made all three of his extra-point attempts.
Missouri Valley drops to 3-7 on the season and 0-6 in the division. Central Methodist improves to 3-8 on the season and 1-5 in the conference.
