Dance Team Continues Season at Spartan Showcase

St. Louis, Mo., (Feb. 1, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College cheer and dance teams competed at the Missouri Baptist Spartan Showcase in St. Louis, Mo., Saturday. The cheer team took first place in its competition, with a final score of 91.1, the highest score for the program since posting a 92.65 to win the 2022 Heart Championship, and the dance team placed 12th overall.

 

In the cheer competition, teams only performed once, and the Vikings earned scores of 91.90, 93.30 and 92.50 from the three judges, for a raw score of 92.57. The team suffered a 1.25 point deduction, and finished with a final score of 91.32 to take first place in the event. University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) finished second with a score of 90.30, and third place was Taylor (Ind.) with a final score of 89.20.

In the dance competition, teams only performed once, Missouri Valley earned scores of 73.70, 71.00 and 75.50 from the three judges, for a raw score of 73.40. The team suffered a five-point deduction, and finished with a final score of 68.40 placing 12th in the standings. Missouri Baptist took first place with a final score of 81.10, followed by St. Francis (Ind.) in second place with 80.50, and Oklahoma City was third with a 80.40.

Up next, the Viking cheer and dance teams will compete at York (Neb.) Classic in York, Neb., on Feb. 7.
