Dance Team Places Third at Coyote Classic

Salina, Kan., (Jan. 31, 2025)- The Missouri Valley College cheer and dance teams both competed at the Coyote Classic in Salina, Kan., hosted by Kansas Wesleyan.  The Viking cheer team placed first, and the dance team placed third in their respective competitions.

 

In the cheer competition, Missouri Valley earned scores of 80.6, 82.4 and 82.5 from the three judges, for a raw score of 81.83.  The team suffered a two-point deduction, and finished with a final score of 79.83.  The Vikings placed first overall.  Friends (Kan.) was second with 74.48 and Kansas Wesleyan was third with a 64.27.

 

In the dance competition, Missouri Valley earned scores of 65.2, 62.9 and 66.5 from the three judges, for a raw score of 64.87.  The team suffered a five-point deduction, and finished with a final score of 59.87, which put the team third overall.  Kansas Wesleyan won the competition with a 66.67, followed by Bethel (Kan.) in second place with a 63.43.  Friends (Kan.) was fourth with a 55.17 and Southwestern (Kan.) was fifth with a 45.63.

 

Up next, the Viking cheer and dance teams travel to St. Louis, Mo., to compete in the Spartan Showcase, hosted by Missouri Baptist, Saturday afternoon.  Dance team competes at 12:15 p.m., and the cheer team has a 2:05 p.m., performance.
