Baseball Drops Pair of Games on the Road to Ecclesia

Seneca, Mo., (Feb. 12, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College baseball team traveled to Seneca, Mo., for a non-conference doubleheader with Ecclesia (Ark.), Thursday afternoon. The Vikings fell in the first game, 5-2, and then dropped the second game, 3-0.

Game one started with Junior Pitcher Rowan Robinson (Calgary, Alberta) striking out two batters and ending the at-bat on a double-play, leaving two runners on-base in the top of the first.  After a scoreless inning for the Vikings, Ecclesia produced one run in the second inning to move in front, 1-0.  Missouri Valley was taken down in order in the bottom of the third, and the Royals scored three runs on three hits to increase their lead in the top of the fourth, 4-0.  The Vikings cut into its deficit in the bottom half, as Senior Leftfielder Filippo Bianchi (Piacenza, Italy) reached first on a bunt and advanced to second on an error by the pitcher, Freshman First Baseman El-Roi Hasabu (Shawnee, Kan.) singled to left field to bring home Bianchi, and MVC trailed 4-1.  Both teams were unable to produce any runs in the fifth and sixth inning.  Ecclesia added one more run in the top of the seventh, and Missouri Valley tried to work back, as Freshman Rightfielder Aidan Bearden (Kansas City, Mo.) walked and stole second, Senior Pitch Hitter Colton Campbell (Aledo, Texas) followed with a single, and Sophomore Second Baseman Sota Suzuki (Aichi, Japan) singled to allow Bearden to score.  However, the Vikings were unable to produce any more runs and fell by a final score 5-2.

Hasabu and Suzuki both added one hit and one RBI each. Bianchi and Bearden had one hit and one scored run. Robinson went 3.0 innings, giving up four hits and two runs with seven strikeouts.

 

In game two, Ecclesia scored two runs in the top of the third inning, and then added one more run in the seventh.  Missouri Valley only had one hit each from Suzuki and Sophomore Shortstop Bradley Johnson (Lawrenceburg, Ky.) and the Vikings fell in a low-scoring game, 3-0.

Missouri Valley drops to 0-6 on the season, while Ecclesia improves to 8-2.

Up next, the Vikings will finish its series against Ecclesia with a Friday doubleheader, beginning at 11 a.m., in Seneca (Mo.) Highschool.
