Esports Marvel Rivals Advances to NECC National Tournament Semifinals

Marshall, Mo., (April 27, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College Esports Marvel Rivals team competed in the NECC National Tournament this week.  The Vikings advanced to the semifinals after a pair of defeats.

Missouri Valley played the round of 16 against East Central (Okla.), and finished with a sweep in the best-of-five series, 3-0.  In game two, Freshman Gavin Beals (Centralia, Ill.) led with 42 eliminations, while Freshman Brecken Jasper (Marshall, Mo.) had 30,000 damage blocked in game three, and Sophomore Diogo Hansen (Blumenau, Brazil) finished with 26,000 healing in game four.

The Vikings then opened the quarterfinal matchup against University of Southern Indiana, and finished with a 3-2 win in the best-of-five series.  In game two, Junior Mike Wissman (Cole Camp, Mo.) finished with 29 eliminations, and Senior Wyatt Nordean (Orange Park, Fla.) added 42,000 damage blocked.  Senior Peyton Pinter (Leavenworth, Kan.) contributed with 32 eliminations in game three.

The Viking Marvel Rivals team is 12-0 on the season.

Up next, the team will play in the NECC National Tournament Semifinal against Landmark (Vt.), Tuesday.
