Men's Volleyball Student-Athlete Earns Weekly Heart Honor
Marshall, Mo., (April 6, 2026)- A Missouri Valley College men's volleyball student-athlete has earned a weekly award from the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his play in three victories last week.
Senior Middle Blocker Arthur Martenelli (Curitiba, Brazil) has been named the Heart Men's Volleyball Defender of the Week, presented by BoxOut Sports, after helping the No. 6 Viking men's volleyball team to a 3-0 record.
Martenelli assisted on four blocks and added three digs, to go with eight kills, in a sweep of Graceland (Iowa). He followed with helping on three blocks, and added six kills, in a sweep over Clarke (Iowa). In Saturday's sweep of No. 4 Mount Mercy (Iowa), Martenelli added four blocks and three digs, to go with five kills. He finished the week with 11 blocks, six digs and 19 kills.
This is the first weekly award for Martenelli at Missouri Valley, and this is the first weekly award for the team this season.
The Vikings are 20-4 overall and 14-4 in the Heart. Up next is the final game of the regular season, at Ottawa (Kan.) Tuesday at 7 p.m. Missouri Valley will host a quarterfinal contest in the Heart Postseason Championship, Saturday.
