Esports Marvel Rivals Advances to Tournament Finals
Marshall, Mo., (April 2, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College Esports Marvel Rivals team competed in the NECC Division VI Conference Tournament this week. The Vikings advanced to the championship round after a pair of victories.
Missouri Valley opened with a quarterfinal matchup against Paradise Valley (Ariz.), and finished with a 3-1 win in the best-of-five series. In game two, Junior Mike Wissman (Cole Camp, Mo.) finished with 42,000 healing, while Senior Wyatt Nordean (Orange Park, Fla.) finished with 30 eliminations in game three and Senior Peyton Pinter (Leavenworth, Kan.) contributed with 30 eliminations in game four.
The team advanced to the semifinal round for a series with East Central (Okla.). The Vikings won, 3-1, in the best-of-five series, which featured 37,000 healing from Sophomore Diogo Hansen (Blumenau, Brazil) in game one. Freshman Brecken Jasper (Marshall, Mo.) had 43 eliminations in the third game.
The semifinal win allowed the team to reach the tournament finals, and a series against New Mexico Tech, set for April 14 at 8 p.m. The team is trying to earn a berth into the NECC National tournament, which begins April 21.
