Shotgun Sports Team Captures National Championship At ACUI
San Antonio, Texas, (March 21, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College shotgun sports team competed at the ACUI Collegiate Clay National Championships in San Antonio, Texas throughout the week. The Vikings made history, capturing a team National title at the event.
Competing in the Division I Classic All-Around Team division, the Vikings shot in American Trap, American Skeet and Sporting Clays.
In American Trap, Missouri Valley finished with a total of 474/500. Leading the team was Freshman Sam Morehead (Bernard, Iowa) with a 96/100, followed by 95/100 efforts from both Sophomore Paige Burns (Goodridge, Mich.) and Nash Mckenzie. Sophomore Lodden Axtell (Wilton, Iowa and Freshman Griffin Mecham (Spanish Fork, Utah) rounded out the team scorers, both finishing at 94/100 in the event.
The team finished with a score of 469/500 in American Skeet, led by a 97/100 from Mckenzie. Sophomore Jack Duffin (Novato, Calif.) followed at 96/100, while Senior Boe Caplan (Buellton, Calif.), Sophomore Olivia Simmons (Flower Mound, Texas) and Freshman Dominic Senuca (New Castle, Calif.) each totaled a 92/100 to round out the team scorers.
The Vikings finished with a score of 383/500 in Sporting Clays, and were led by Senuca and Mckenzie, who both totaled 80/100 in the event. Duffin followed at 76/100, while Simmons had a 75/100. The final team scorer was Freshman Macie Remington (Kingsville, Mo.) at 72/100.
Leading the team in the individual standings was McKenzie, who finished with a total of 272/300 to place eighth in the High Overall Standings, just four shots behind first place. Duffin came in at No. 19 with a 264/300, and Senuca was No. 24 with a 262/300. Women's team members were led by Simmons, who placed No. 12 overall with a 259-300, while Burns and Sophomore Madi Scott (Kaysville, Utah) tied for No. 24, both at 246-300.
As a team, Missouri Valley finished with a total of 1326/1500 in the Division I Classic All-Around Team division, topping second place University of Maryland, which totaled an 1159/1500, to capture the division's National championship. This is the program's first National championship and comes in the first season under Head Coach Shawn Dulohery.
