Shotgun Sports Competes at Inaugural Heart Championship

Lenexa, Kan., (March 8, 2026)- The Missouri Valley College shotgun sports team competed at the inaugural Heart of America Athletic Conference Championship this weekend at Powder Creek Shooting Park in Lenexa, Kan. The team finished in the top five, with one individual award winner.

 

The Heart Championship featured trap, skeet and sporting clays, with individual and team performances factoring into the overall standings.

 

Leading the team was Sophomore Olivia Simmons (Flower Mound, Texas), who finished as the female high-overall champion, totaling 261 points.  

 

As a team, Missouri Valley finished fifth in the standings with 1,308 points.  William Penn (Iowa) won the conference title with 1,416 points, followed by Midland (Neb.) in second place with 1,389 points.  Hastings (Neb.) was third with 1,320 points and William Woods (Mo.) was fourth with 1,309 points.
