Caroline Matz Named New Men's & Women's Tennis Head Coach
Marshall, Mo., (Jan. 22, 2026)- Missouri Valley College Athletic Director Marsha Lashley announces the hiring of Caroline Matz as the new Head Coach for the men's and women's tennis programs.
Matz takes over the position beginning with the spring competition season, and previously coached tennis at Smith-Cotton (Mo.) High School in Sedalia, Mo., for two seasons. Prior to her coaching stop at Smith-Cotton, Matz played club tennis at the University of Missouri.
"I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to lead both the men's and women's tennis programs at Missouri Valley College," said Matz. "I'm excited to work with our student-athletes, build strong relationships and develop a program that competes with energy, integrity, and pride. I would like to thank President Dr. Joe Parisi and Athletic Director Marsha Lashley for their trust and the opportunity to build something special at Missouri Valley."
Additionally, Matz has worked in the Athletic Departments at both State Fair (Mo.) Community College and at the University of Missouri, along with running youth tennis camps, and helping to start a youth tennis program in the Sedalia community.
"Coach Matz will be a fantastic addition to our department, and I look forward to seeing the great things she will do leading our tennis programs," said Lashley. "Her playing background and knowledge of the sport are great assets that will help in building our teams and coaching our student-athletes."
Matz will take over the tennis programs, which open their spring competition seasons in early February. The men's team finished with a 6-9 record and the women's team went 8-4 during the 2024-25 season.
