Former Women's Wrestlers Compete at Senior World Championships

Marshall, Mo., (Sept. 15, 2025)- Two former Missouri Valley College women's wrestlers will compete this week at the Senior World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.  Jacarra Winchester represents the United States of America and Aniseta Acosta represents American Samoa.

Winchester is in the women's freestyle 59kg weight class, and opens competition on Monday.  Winchester has an accomplished international career, having won a gold medal at the 2019 World Championships and a gold medal at the 2021 Pan-American Championships, both in the 55kg weight class.  Also, Winchester represented the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.  At Missouri Valley, Winchester was an individual National championship at 130 pounds in 2015.

Acosta is in the women's freestyle 68kg weight class, representing American Samoa, and qualified for the Senior World Championships after taking first place at the Oceania Championships back in March.  This is the first major international tournament Acosta has competed in, and will open competition on Wednesday.  Acosta was a member of the Viking women's wrestling program from 2022-25, and was a two-time NAIA National Championship qualifier.
