Rodeo Teams Continue Spring Competition at Pearl River

Poplarville, Miss.., (March 23, 2025)-  The Missouri Valley College men's and women's rodeo teams continued their spring competition seasons with the Pearl River (Miss.) rodeo in Poplarville, Miss., over the weekend.  The men's team finished first in the standings, with one event winner in the average, while the women's team placed seventh.

 

Leading the men's team was Sophomore Jason Wilson (Pownal, Vt.) in bareback riding, placing first in the average with a 165.  Wilson won both go-rounds with scores of 85 and 80, and earned 180 points.  Junior Kooper Heimburg (San Tan Valley, Ariz.) followed at second in the average with a 159.  Heimburg placed second in the first go-round with an 85, and was sixth in the second go-round with a 75 to earn 110 points.  Freshman Collin Roland (Fayetteville, Ala.) was third in the average with a 157, placing third in the first go-round with a 78, and second in the second go-round with a 79 to earn 130 points.  Junior Bryce Eck (Redfield, Kan.) was fourth in the average with a 155, and earned 95 points, and Senior Drew Lind (Weyauwega, Wisc.) was fifth in the average with a 154 and earned 75 points.  Freshman Judd Pope (Garnett, Kan.) was sixth in the first go-round with a 73 and earned 10 points.

 

In saddle bronc riding, Freshman Treg Huver (Nashville, Mich.) finished second in the average with a 151.  Huver won the first go-round with a 79, and was third in the second go-round with a 72, collecting 150 points.  Eck was third in the average with a 140.  Eck finished fourth in the first go-round with a 67, and second in the second go-round with a 73 to earn 120 points.  Sophomore Walker McAbee (Woodruff, S.C.) was fourth in the average with a 72 in the first go-round, and earned 70 points.  

 

The only competitor for the women's team was Freshman Codie Vaughn (Searcy, Ark.), who finished fourth in the first go-round of goat tying with a 7.7 to earn 25 points.

 

The men's team placed first overall with a final score of 795 points.  Southern Arkansas was second earning 570 points.  The Viking women's team placed seventh with 25 points.  West Alabama won the rodeo with 330 points.
